This article, written by Rod K. Brunson, addresses the issues black men face when confronted by the police. In a study of 40 black men, the men found that they felt discriminated against during police confrontations. The police seemed to be racially biased and generally wanted to find something wrong so they could put the black men in jail. This has been an ongoing pattern in and outside the experiment, signifying that the prejudice the black men faced are very real and not made up. In fact, many black men feel unsafe and hesitant about going to the police for help, thinking they may get into some sort of trouble should they ever call for the police.

This article is so important in today's time because recently, many police officers do discriminate against black people. The officers may go as far as to shoot and kill them over small things. For example, young black men die because they seemed to be "suspicious" though they were clearly innocent. This is important to recognize because these issues need to be acknowledged so change can take place. People deserve to feel safe and included, so spreading awareness for these issues can help stimulate acceptance for these black men.
